
DEWALT has commercially launched DALE, an autonomous, fleet-capable robot designed to automate downward concrete drilling on data center construction projects. The robot was developed in collaboration with August Robotics.
The company said DALE is designed to improve drilling speed, accuracy and jobsite efficiency while supporting installation of server rack stops and mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.
During a year-long pilot program, the robot drilled at speeds of up to 10 times faster than traditional methods, completed more than 230,000 holes with 99.97% accuracy and reduced project schedules by a combined 190 weeks across 26 data center construction phases.
The robot features fast-swap batteries for extended operation, remote monitoring, automatic dust collection and AI-assisted quality assurance to help prepare work areas for follow-on trades after drilling.
DALE is part of DEWALT's expanding portfolio of technology aimed at supporting productivity and safety on large-scale construction projects.
