Genie has announced new safety accessories designed to improve awareness and encourage the use of fall protection on aerial equipment.

The first system, called Lanyard Alert, is available in two configurations for boom lifts. Both versions use a visual and audible alarm when a fall protection lanyard is not attached to the anchor point inside the platform. Lanyard Alert Advanced goes further by preventing operation until the lanyard is secured. If the lanyard is unclipped after operation begins, only ground controls and boom-lowering functions remain active.

The anchor point is positioned next to the control box to minimize obstruction, and the device is compatible with most carabiner clips. Genie said the system can be installed in less than 15 minutes and is available as a factory-fit option or as a retrofit for boom models built since 2003.

The second accessory, called Lift Guard Zone Lighting, is designed for GS scissor lifts. The system projects a red laser boundary about 2 feet from the edge of the chassis, improving awareness for operators and ground personnel. The light beam, about 0.6 inches thick, remains visible in indoor conditions and uses a glass lens designed to resist fading.

Brackets protect the lighting system from falling objects, and aftermarket kits will be available for Genie slab scissor lift models worldwide starting in early 2026.

Both products align with industry efforts to reduce collision risks, entrapment incidents and falls, particularly as standards evolve across global markets.
