Broken NYC Crane Secured

Workers complete a 36-hour operation to secure the flat tower crane in New York City that was damaged by Hurricane Sandy

After days of dangling over New York City, workers successfully secured the broken crane on a building on West 57th Street in Midtown Manhattan. The workers tethered the crane, hand cranking the jib closer to the building and using cables to tie down the boom.

After securing the crane, residents were allowed back into nearby buildings that had been closed since the storm.
