Volvo CE invented the articulated hauler in 1966, pioneered the full hydraulic suspension concept in 2007, and continues pushing the category forward. The new A50 was developed in direct response to customer demand for an ADT with a 50-ton payload.
As the only full-suspension artic in its size class, the A50 offers faster speeds for dramatically shorter cycle times, an increase in production per operator hour, and lower operating costs — not to mention a smoother ride. These characteristics make it an ideal workhorse for rough terrain in quarries, mines and large construction sites.
Compared to the A45 full suspension model from Volvo’s previous generation, the A50 delivers 10% more productivity and 8% greater fuel efficiency.
The A50 delivers top-notch traction, stability and fuel efficiency thanks to a Volvo drivetrain with Terrain Memory and Volvo Dynamic Drive (predictive gear selection). A new electronic system and transmission boost fuel efficiency, and the machine’s design allows for adaptation to future drivetrains as needed.
Operators will enjoy a field of vision that exceeds industry standards, a tailgate with longer arms (to open wider and faster), and a host of improvements inside the cab. Maintenance costs are reduced by up to 6% over 12,000 hours of operation due to simplified servicing and longer change intervals.
