Mack Defense will receive $47 million in funding through the 2026 Department of Defense Appropriations Act to continue production of the M917A3 Heavy Dump Truck at its Allentown, Pennsylvania, facility.
The funding supports a five-year contract awarded in 2025 for up to 450 trucks, with a total value of up to $221.8 million. According to Mack Defense, more than 625 M917A3 trucks have been produced to date.
Based on the commercial Mack Granite platform, the M917A3 is designed for military construction and infrastructure applications, including work on airfields, roadways, supply facilities and motor pools. The truck features all-wheel drive, increased ride height, heavy-duty axles and other modifications to meet military requirements.
The vehicle also includes technologies such as anti-lock braking systems, updated operator controls and active safety features.
