17-tonne excavator with new JCB six-cylinder diesel meets Tier 4 exhaust limits without aftertreatment, improves fuel efficiency up to 10%

The JS160LC, now powered by JCB's new six-cylinder Ecomax diesel, meets U.S. EPA's Tier 4 Interim emissions standards using high-pressure common-rail fuel injection and cooled exhaust gas recirculation (EGR), with no need for exhaust aftertreatment. JCB claims the new engines deliver up to a 10 percent efficiency-improvement compared to previous models, with improved throttle response to operator demand.
