White Construction to Build Michigan Wind Farm

Consumer Energy, a unit of US energy firm CMS Energy Corp (NYSE:CMS), said on Friday it had awarded domestic wind park builder White Construction a contract to provide engineering services to its Lake Winds energy park in Mason county, Michigan.

The wind farm, the first wind project by Consumers Energy, is to be up and running in late 2012.

In addition to the construction deal, the company has agreed with GE-Prolec Transformers Inc to supply electric transformers for a new substation to serve the project. Both contracts are pending the green light from the Michigan Public Service Commission. The park is also awaiting a land use permit from Mason county.
