Werk-Brau has introduced the 40EX-HD Brush Shredder, an attachment designed to convert backhoes and compact excavators into mulching and brush-clearing machines.
The shredder has a 40-inch cutting width and uses triple flail knives to process brush and woody material up to 5 inches in diameter. It weighs about 1,170 pounds and is built with a single-piece frame, a ½-inch cutter drum and 3/8-inch end plates for durability in demanding conditions.

The attachment operates with hydraulic flow rates of 25 to 54 gallons per minute and features a direct-drive system to transfer power to the cutter drum. Additional features include an electronically balanced drum with serviceable hubs, an integrated thumb saddle for handling debris, and anti-wrap guards to protect bearings and seals.
The 40EX-HD meets SAE J1001 flail mower standards and is designed for use on backhoes and compact excavators weighing between 16,000 and 24,000 pounds.
