When West Virginia’s Miller Sealcoating & Striping acquired a local competitor in 2008 the contractor also acquired a second bulk storage tank. It sat unused until 2011 when owner Dan Miller installed the tank in his yard, next to a bulk tank for asphalt sealer and a 30-ton sand silo. To give his customers a choice, empowering them as they make their buying decision, he filled this second tank with a polymer-modified coal tar sealer. A rebuilt 100 gpm chocolate pump (as in Hershey’s chocolate), converted to handle sealer, pumps material from tank to truck, and now one driver can fill a truck in 10 minutes, pull beneath the sand silo, and be out of the yard in less than 30 minutes.
