The Pavement Coatings Technology Council’s (PCTC) new web site - http://www.pavementcouncil.org - went online in August. It features a fresh look, with new navigation tools and is friendly for viewing on mobile devices. Unlike the old web site, recent content will always appear on the home page, with the newest posts at the top. All of the content of the old web site remains available on the new, but now it’s easier to find what you are looking for. A key improvement is creation of tags for every web post that appear in a tag cloud on the right side of the page (or at that bottom of the home page on mobile devices). Need to find sealcoating standards and specifications quickly? Just click on the word “Standards” in the tag cloud. Interested in reading more about PCTC’s interactions with the US Geological Survey? Click on the word “USGS” in the cloud.
Popular features such as the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page and Contractor’s Corner continue to be featured on the site, and now are easy to access on your smart phone. Try this: access PavementCouncil.org on your mobile phone. Touch the squares that appear on the upper left side of the mobile site – this will reveal the menu of individual web site pages, one of which is the FAQ page. Touch the word “FAQ” to see commonly asked questions and PCTC’s responses. Touch one of the questions to see the response. We hope this feature helps contractors when asked questions in the field.
When visiting PavementCouncil.org using the browser on your full size desktop, laptop or tablet computer, you will notice several different ways to navigate the site to find specific information. Pages are listed on the horizontal ribbon below the new PCTC logo. Categories are listed at the top of the right side of the page. The tag cloud is just below the list of categories. Clicking on the page names, category names, or tags will display content relevant to those key words. And the site is also searchable for your specific key words – click on the magnifying glass on the upper right side of the site.
While the new web site is now live, the project of adding tags to old content is an ongoing project that will be completed over the next few weeks. Some of the older content requires updating and some links to information on other web sites have to be repaired. If you are interested in a specific topic. Check back in a few weeks to see if additional content has been tagged.
PCTC wants the web site to be useful to you, to be your source of available information about sealcoating. With its improved navigation tools and mobile-friendly enhancements, the renovated web site will make finding the information you are looking for easier to find.
