California Chip Seal Association Awards McCrea with the Lifetime Achievement Award

Robert McCrea received the award for his contribution to pavement preservation in the industry.

ONTARIO, CA-Robert ‘Bob’ McCrea, P.E. has been awarded with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the California Chip Seal Association, the state’s leading pavement preservation organization, at the organization’s annual conference in February 2011.

McCrea, of Redding, CA, has been instrumental in promoting chip seal and other asphalt maintenance strategies in the state of California and is considered among the leading experts in thin surface pavement treatments. He currently works for Western Emulsions Inc., and for the past seven years has provided consultative services in resurfacing emulsions and chip seal designs in CA, AZ, NM, UT, NV and other locations throughout the United States.

McCrea has over 36 years of experience in the asphalt industry, including 16 years with U.S. Forest Service as a roads engineer, and 20 years as a consulting engineer representing product manufacturers.

A graduate of California State Poly Technical University Pomona, McCrea is an active member and former President of California Chip Seal Association, the American Society of Civil Engineers, and is a past Industry Co-Chair for the Fog and Rejuvenating Sub-Task group for Cal-Trans sponsored Pavement Preservation Task Group.
