Genie added the option for a 74-hp, 3.6L Deutz diesel to its GTH-844 rough-terrain telehandler to eliminate the diesel particulate filter and selective catalytic reduction system from the machine's Tier 4 Final compliance hardware. It's the same engine platform as the 99-hp Deutz option also available on the GTH-844, but the lighter rating makes 287 ft.-lb- of torque. The choice lowers acquisition and maintenance costs, compared to the 99-hp options, without sacrificing any of the forklift's 8,000-lb. maximum capacity.
“An engine has a big impact on a machine’s overall rROIC (rental return on invested capital) so we kept things simple and cost-effective with the updates to our popular GTH-844 telehandler,” says Anders Mantere, Genie Telehandler Product Manager. “By optimizing the drivetrain, and utilizing the new high-torque, 74-hp engine, the GTH-844 is a less complex machine at a lower price point — offering full-sized performance at the right-sized price.”
