With Ram Truck announcing that it going to bring a Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) version of its half-ton Ram 1500 to market in 2024, the top three players in the full-size pickup market will all offer battery-electric options to this competitive market segment in the next couple of years. The Ford F-150 Lightning will be the first to market this spring, most likely followed by the Chevrolet 1500 Silverado, although the actual launch date of that truck has yet to be announced. Ram Trucks and its parent, Stellantis, are well-positioned to learn from any missteps as the BEV technology expands into the pickup-truck realm.

For the time being, the market leading pickup suppliers have chosen to focus on the large volume ½-ton pickup market, with the 3/4-ton and larger trucks still predominately remaining focused on diesel powerplants.

The Ram 1500 EV promises a 500-mile range with a conventional body on frame construction and standard all-wheel drive. There is also an anticipated fast charging speed up to 20 miles per minute. The truck will be built on an electric drive module that combines the motor, gearbox and inverter. Pricing and many of the technical details have not yet been announced.

With the actual launch of the truck a couple years out, Ram is working to engage with customers during the final product development. To help accomplish this goal, Ram Truck is launching Ram Revolution. This is an exclusive insider program that invites Ram brand fans to join the BEV journey. The RamRevolution.com hub will provide consumers with a closer connection with the brand and its EV philosophy, updates with unique visuals and content, and the opportunity to provide input as Ram EV trucks are developed. The Ram BEV promises a fast charging speed up to 20 miles per minute. The Ram BEV promises a fast charging speed up to 20 miles per minute.Ram Truck

“The Ram brand’s promise is grounded in our unique ‘Built to Serve’ philosophy, and our new Ram Revolution campaign takes this pledge even further,” adds Koval. “At Ram we are built to serve our customers, understanding and delivering exactly what they need and want in a Ram.”
