May 2022 Truckload Volume Index Increases 10% Compared to 2021

The May truckload volume index declined 3.7% compared to April. The spot van rate dipped 7 cents to $2.69 per mile as a national average. Removing a fuel surcharge, the van rate was $1.97 a mile, falling below $2 for the first time since July 2020.
