Metabo HPT has announced the return of the 36V MultiVolt Cordless Brushless Orbital Jig Saw (model CJ36DAQ4) for construction. This cordless jig saw is designed for carpenters, general contractors, metal fabricators and siding installers. Applications include cutting shapes in various wood pieces, cutting metals like mild steel, aluminum and copper, cutting synthetic resin materials like Bakelite and vinyl chloride, cutting decorative sheets and thin construction materials, as well as cutting stainless steel sheets.

Originally launched in 2020, it was discontinued in 2021. However, based on end user demand and requests through social media, Metabo HPT has relaunched this 36V jigsaw. It’s again part of the expanding MultiVolt System of power tools from Metabo HPT.

This cordless jig saw produces up to 3,500 strokes per minute with a 1-1/32-in. stroke length. With four speed settings and orbital action individuals can select speeds depending on the wood being cut. The four-stage orbital action mode is designed for cutting through thick pieces of wood. The blade moves slightly forward and into the workpiece on the upswing, then slightly backward on the downstroke. A straight cut mode can be used for cutting angles and details. The quick brake function stops the blade to reduce delay. Low vibration enables smooth cutting, while a slow start up speed supports aligning the blade to the cut line.

When the saw is in use, the auto mode setting enables the speed to automatically switch from 1,400 spm to 3,500 spm. The variable control feature helps maintain speed. The tool accepts the 18V or 36V MultiVolt battery and the Metabo HPT AC Adapter (model ET36A) for versatility.

The curved D-shaped handle conforms for a secure grip when held in many positions. The soft patented elastomer compound that covers the jig saw absorbs vibration during use. The elastomer coating also prevents slippage and provides control over the tool while cutting. This cordless jig saw features a dust blower and LED light to clear and illuminate the cut path.

Change t-shank blades for different materials with the tool-less blade change system. The 45° adjustable base allows for angled cuts and the provided hex wrench mounts securely to the base plate. An included splinter guard helps maintain the quality of the edges and can be removed when not needed.

At only 4.4 lbs, the tool is lightweight and sturdy for gliding along the workpiece. A lock-on, variable speed trigger allows the user to control the speed to match the application and keep it set. The brushless motor helps prolong the tool’s life.

The CJ36DAQ4 36V Multivolt Cordless Brushless Orbital Jig Saw is sold as a bare tool (batteries and charger sold separately) and comes with a No. 41 Blade, Hex Bar Wrench 4mm, Chip Cover and Splinter Guard.
