Elgin Sweeper and CPAC Systems introduced a new 360 camera system for street sweepers designed to reduce blind spots and improve operator visibility.
The system uses four heated high-definition cameras to create a single adapted view around the machine. It also includes radar support and automatic view transitions designed for low-speed sweeping and lane changes.
Operators can use a 3D view and adjust camera angles through a touchscreen display. The system also changes views automatically when the operator signals a turn or shifts gears, with settings that can be customized.
Radar sensors monitor the rear and both sides of the sweeper and trigger warnings when the system detects obstacles. According to the companies, the system filters out static objects to focus alerts on actual hazards.
Elgin Sweeper said the camera system is designed to help operators maneuver more easily in tight spaces, busy jobsites and urban work zones.
