According to an article from the Washington Post, President Trump is abandoning a key element of his $1 trillion infrastructure package — using private sector funds to build needed infrastructure. The infrastructure plan continues to be up in the air as White House officials are struggling to decide how to finance these road, bridge and tunnel projects.

Instead, the administration is now looking to force states and localities to foot the funding. Trump may seek to pay for infrastructure upgrades through direct federal spending either by paying for projects with new tax revenue or taking on debt. This approach would likely limit the scope of projects to a fraction of what has been envisioned.
