Paver size isn't the main issue facing contractors looking to buy; manufacturers say the more-common question is rubber tires or tracks? Brodie Hutchins, general manager of Vogele, says tracks offer greater traction and flotation while rubber tire offer lower maintenance costs (tires are easier and less costly to maintain), greater travel speed, and good tractive effort (though not as good as track pavers). Hutchins says if most of the work you do is overlays, rubber tires are your answer.
