The TruckTap on-demand mobile app connects contractors and local truck drivers for construction trucking needs. This recently launched startup app has over 600 trucks registered.

“The app does all the work for us by lining up independent truckers and keeping track of them,” according to a testimonial from Robert Rotondi of D&R Paving. “It takes a huge burden off of our supervisors and office staff.

The TruckTap app is free to use. Contractors pay an hourly rate for trucking services based on state and truck size. The app will notify users of rate changes.

For contractors, the process starts by scheduling a job in the TruckTap portal. The schedule includes all the trucks you’ll need for that day and any additional job instructions.

From the portal, real-time monitoring allows contractors to see when a truck driver has accepted the job. Contractors can also see what time a truck driver punches in and punches out for the job or if the truck driver cancels.

Contractor users will receive an emailed job summary one the job is complete. Payments to the truck driver are paid via credit card through the portal the following business day.

For the truck drivers, the app provides them a place to view available jobs and choose ones that fit their schedules. Once the truck driver “accepts” the job and arrives at the start location on the day of the job, the app prompts the truck driver to “punch in”. When work is complete the truck driver then “punches out” through the app.

While the majority of TruckTap users are in the New England area where the startup originated, TruckTap is designed to be a nationwide service, and contractors and truck drivers can register from anywhere. The more contractors and truck drivers in your area that become aware of the app the more options you’ll have to hire truck drivers or, if you are a truck driver, the more independent jobs you’ll be able to find.

Plus, all the paperwork is automated for both contractors and truck drivers.
