What Are Your 2012 Business Resolutions

Are you making new resolutions for your construction business in 2012?

Happy New Year and welcome to 2012! For me, I can't believe how fast 2011 came and went. Construction business managers may feel the same way, or maybe 2011 was a long year for your company.

Common custom is to make resolutions at the start of each year. The beginning of the year is also a good time to take a look at your business and consider resolutions you can make for your business. Maybe you want to work toward improving an aspect of your business. Or maybe you want to avoid something that has been detrimental to your business in the past. And not all business-related resolutions have to be on the financial side. Consider the way your company is run. Are there changes in business management tactic you would like to implement in 2012?

Although the beginning of the year is typically the time we take to review our lives (or our businesses) and attempt to make resolutions (making a resolution and keeping it are two entirely different feats) I'm in the school of thought that resolutions and positive changes shouldn't be made just once a year.

So while the beginning of 2012 is a great time to reevaluate your business and make (and start to keep) some resolutions, make sure you frequently reevaluate during the year. If something new comes up or something isn't working out later in the year, don't wait until January 2013 to resolve to change it. Make necessary changes or improvements as your situation dictates.

Good luck for a successful 2012!
