Akron Considering Starting City Construction Company for Municipal Projects

Akron mayor proposed idea in an effort to prove there are city residents available to do construction work

Akron, Ohio, Mayor Don Plusquellic is considering creating a city construction company to help employ city residents to meet local hiring goals for a billion-dollar sewer project. The major has said many details remain to be worked out. However, the private company could require its employees be Akron residents, which the city cannot do.
