President Trump has kept the deportation of illegal immigrants at the forefront of his presidential campaign and his start in office. Recently he signed an executive order to hire 10,000 additional U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement offices to track down violent criminals who are also illegal immigrants. However, enforcement sooner or later may trickle down to those who have not committed crimes other than living and working in the United States without proper documentation — something that would likely affect the construction industry workforce.
But this heightened enforcement will likely impact construction contractors in areas of labor shortage and other workforce management practices.
