Construction Dive

Construction Dive recently spoke with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to find out which of the organization's rules are most often broken on construction projects. As it turns out, the top offenses have largely stayed the same over time, resulting in a decades-long struggle to improve safety in the construction industry.

Fall protection tops the list with more than 20,000 incidents reported in just the last four years.

Rounding out the top 10 violations are:

  • Fall protection, residential
  • Ladders, portable
  • Fall protection, guard rails
  • Training requirements
  • Eye and face protection
  • Head protection
  • Scaffolds, fall protection
  • Scaffolds, aerial lifts
  • Fall protection, low-slope roofs
  • Scaffolds, access
