The construction industry is the industry most inspected and cited by in Occupational Safety & Health Administration enforcement, drawing 53% of all inspections, 43% of all citations, and 44% of all penalties assessed from October 2015 to September 2016. 

Roofing contractors got the most citations in the past 12 months – 6,924, or 28% of all those issued to construction companies. Added together, the three most-cited construction business types – roofing, framing, and masonry contractors – were issued more than 13,000 citations, which is 53% of all construction citations and 23% of all OSHA citations for the year.

Residential building contractors and commercial and institutional building contractors round out the Top 5 business types most cited by OSHA.
