PA Contractor Admits to Willfully Violating OSHA Regulation Causing Worker's Death

Susquehanna Supply Co. failed to properly slope a 12-ft. deep trench which resulted in the trench collapse and one worker's death

Susquehanna Supply Co. pleaded guilty and agreed to pay a $250,000 fine after the 2015 death of an employee. Susquehanna admitted in court to willfully violating OSHA regulations on excavation and trenching.

The employee died after being buried up to his chest when the wall of a trench collapsed since it was not properly sloped.

In addition to the criminal case penalty, Susquehanna will also pay a $70,000 OSHA fine as part of the plea agreement.
