Two Construction Bosses Indicted for Crane Accident

Bosses allegedly permitted use of a crane without proper permits or training resulting in an accident that severely injured two construction workers

New York Post

A senior branch manager and a site supervisor have been indicted for recklessly using a crane that resulted in severe injury to two construction workers on a Manhattan jobsite in June 2018. The two construction bosses allegedly ordered use of the crane without ensuring it was properly set up or workers were trained to use it.

On the day of the accident, an untrained worker overloaded the crane which then toppled forward crashing to the ground four stories below. As it fell it struck three workers, tearing one from his safety harness and tossing him three stories. One of the severely injured workers suffered head trauma affecting his ability to speak and walk. The other severely injured worker suffered spinal injuries impairing his mobility.
