North Carolina Budget Deal Cuts Toll Project Funding

North Carolina cuts funding for two behind schedule toll road projects

The North Carolina House and Senate have agreed not to spending $63 million next year on two toll road projects that are running behind schedule. The toll road projects included the Mid-Currituck Bridge on the northern Outer Banks and the Garden Parkway near Charlotte.

Some in the Senate wanted to kill the two toll road projects for good but it was agreed that the funding cuts would only apply for one year.

The money originally planned for the toll roads will instead be put into the state's Mobility Fund for use on other road and bridge improvements.
