Washington D.C. is experiencing a record-breaking number of residential building permits issues. Between 2010 and 2015 the city has seen an average of 4,403 residential permits issued per year. That's nearly 200 more per year than the last residential construction boom between 1960 and 1969, which saw an average of 4,210 residential permits issued per year.

Most of the permits have been issued for residential construction of five units or more.
