Federal Court Blocks EPA Waters Rule in 13 States

After a temporary injunction the EPA said it will not implement the new water rule in those 13 states

A federal court has blocked the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) new rules to protect smaller streams, tributaries and wetlands in 13 states. The federal ruling came just hours before the rules went into effect on Friday. Those 13 states had sued the EPA and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers arguing the new rules are federal overreach and could be costly and confusing to landowners.

After the temporary injunction, the EPA has said it will not implement the new rules in the following 13 states:

  • Alaska
  • Arizona
  • Arkansas
  • Colorado
  • Idaho
  • Missouri
  • Montana
  • Nebraska
  • Nevada
  • New Mexico
  • North Dakota
  • South Dakota
  • Wyoming

Several other lawsuits still remain from other states and farm and business groups.
