San Diego Construction Site Unearths Ice Age Fossils

Bones of mammoths, horses, turtles and prehistoric bison uncovered; all date from 50,000 to 200,000 years old

A construction site in Carlsbad, Calif., has unearthed a treasure trove of ice age fossils including the bones of mammoths, horses, turtles and a prehistoric bison. All the fossils date from 50,000 to 200,000 years old.

The bones were discovered after grading began this summer.
