Federal Aviation Administration programs, including airport construction grants, have been extended through September 2017. However, FAA Airport Improvement Program construction grants remain frozen at 2016's $3.35 billion authorization.
The Associated General Contractors of America expressed disappointment that the funding levels remain static. Construction and airport industry officials had hoped funding would be more with FAA bills passed earlier in the year that called for increases in airport infrastructure grants.
“There are huge airport infrastructure needs that should be addressed, and we will be working to address those funding needs as Congress considers a longer-term measure," said Associated General Contractors of America spokesman Brian Turmoil.
