House Postpones Overtime Rules, Waits on President's Approval or Veto

Last week the House passed a bill to delay the controversial overtime rule scheduled to take effect December 1, 2016. The vote passed 246 to 177 to delay the rule for six months; however, President Obama has indicated he may veto the bill to delay.

Rep. Bobby Scoot (D-VA) said the House bill "would unnecessarily delay fair pay to millions of workers."

House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) argues the rule should be delayed to give employers and employees time to adjust.
