Public Supports 10-cent Gas-Tax Increase if Revs Reduce Air Pollution

A recent national phone survey from the Mineta Transportation Institute found that the public's meager 24% support for a 10-cent-per-gallon gas tax hike rose to 45% once respondents were told that the incremental revenue was to be spent on reducing global warming. The acceptance rate rose to 48% when respondents were told that the revenue was to be spent on reducing local air pollution.
