The Concrete Polishing Council (CPC), and the Safety & Risk Management Council (SRMC), specialty councils of the American Society of Concrete Contractors (ASCC), St. Louis, Mo., have published four Job Hazard Analysis Forms (JHAs) for polished concrete projects. They are Layout Power Cords, Changing Polishing Pucks, Equipment to Polish Concrete Floor, and Fueling & Grounding of Generator.

These and numerous other Job Hazard Analysis Forms for cast-in-place concrete work are available for ASCC members only at www.ascconline.org. JHAs address tasks for a specific project, and are required by many owners and general contractors as part of the concrete contractors’ safety program.

ASCC and its members place the highest priority on safety. In addition to JHAs, ASCC has a customizable 300+ page Safety Manual, a Safety Management Plan for smaller contractors, and Tool Box Talks in English and Spanish, all written by concrete contractors, for concrete contractors.

The CPC was formed to provide standards, education and a professional network for polishing contractors and others in the industry. The Council’s primary goals are to furnish training opportunities and certification programs for their members and to share information on best practices with the design and construction industry.
