Drones can fly frequently, and at relatively little expense. And they can carry far more than cameras. In addition to any number of imaging devices, including LIDAR, they can carry thermal, chemical and a host of other sensors. As a threshold matter, contractors need to clarify the ownership of the additional data that drones will generate. They also need to question whether this data is sensitive, and if so, they need to determine the steps necessary to protect it.  But they also need to ensure that the data gets to the right people, in the right format and at the right time. The end users could include design firms, owners, subcontractors and suppliers. And of course, contractors have to decide how much is enough.  At what point is a contractor collecting more than it can put to meaningful use? This program will identify the policies, protocols and procedures that need to surround the additional data that drones are certain to generate.
