Bricklaying Robot Starts First Construction Job in Washington DC

Clark Construction Group is using the semi-automated mason robot SAM100 at The Lab School

Clark Construction Group LLC began work in November 2014 on the 29,000-square-foot high school for The Lab School in the Palisades neighborhood. The construction company brought SAM100, a semi-automated mason bricklaying robot, onboard for the project about a week ago.

The bricklaying robot is said to be able to lay two to four times the amount of brick than a construction laborer could do working alone. However, the robot still needs masons working alongside SAM and laborers to support it.

This is the first time the SAM100 robot has worked in D.C.
