Caterpillar Inc. is collaborating with Geotab Inc. to integrate on-highway vehicle data into Caterpillar’s VisionLink software. The collaboration aims to provide a single platform for full fleet management across on-highway assets and off-highway equipment.
The integration is designed to improve uptime, productivity, safety and cost efficiency for customers managing mixed fleets. By bringing on-highway data into the VisionLink environment, users can monitor repair needs, enhance safety and improve overall operational efficiency across Cat and non-Cat assets.
"Our customers want one simple way to manage everything in their fleet, no matter where their equipment runs," said Ogi Redzic, chief digital officer of Cat Digital. "With roughly 30 percent of their assets on-highway, our work with Geotab lets us bring those vehicles into the picture. Customers will now have full fleet data to spot repair needs, enhance safety and compliance, and improve efficiency."
Geotab utilizes data analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) to monitor fleet performance. The company’s GO devices, cameras and asset trackers will integrate with VisionLink via the MyGeotab platform. Geotab currently has nearly 5 million connected vehicles across 160 countries. Combined with the 1.6 million off-highway assets reporting through VisionLink, the partnership provides a comprehensive view of total fleet operations.
"Geotab leverages advanced data analytics and AI to transform fleet performance and operations, improve efficiency and reduce costs," said Neil Cawse, founder and CEO of Geotab. "Our GO devices, cameras and asset trackers offer easy installation, auto-pairing and simple calibration and integrate on-highway vehicle data into Caterpillar’s VisionLink through MyGeotab."
Cawse noted that the integration increases management efficiency, advances safety and automates compliance reporting.
AI-enabled cameras will be available through local Cat dealers and Caterpillar eCommerce solutions. Captured on-highway data will be visible alongside off-highway equipment data, creating a centralized source for fleet management.
