Leica Geosystems, part of Hexagon, has introduced the Leica Xsight360, a safety awareness system developed in collaboration with Presien. Designed for heavy construction environments, the system uses AI-powered cameras to detect people, objects, and other hazards near machinery, alerting operators in real time through audio and visual cues.
The alerts are location-specific, helping operators quickly identify and respond to potential risks. In addition to on-machine alerts, video and event data are uploaded to the cloud, where an AI system generates reports for safety managers.
Real-Time Awareness, Backed by Machine Learning
The Xsight360 system is powered by Presien’s visual AI technology, trained specifically for construction applications. The onboard CRS360 processor runs an AI model refined through more than 700,000 hours of real-world data, aiming to deliver accurate alerts with reduced false positives.
The system supports up to six cameras for 360-degree visibility around construction vehicles. It can identify pedestrians, other machines and even construction cones to help minimize the risk of collisions and improve jobsite awareness.
AI Insights for Safety Teams
Beyond alerting operators, Xsight360 provides safety professionals with cloud-based analytics tools. The platform interprets video data to generate safety indexes, dashboards and reports — highlighting potential safety concerns in near real time. These insights can be used to compare incidents with local or international safety standards and inform broader safety strategies.
The goal is to support Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) teams in making faster, more informed decisions while minimizing the blind spots and distractions that can lead to on-site incidents.
