"Building Better Roads" the Focus of BOMAG CONEXPO Showcase

Through a combination of new sustainable machines, smart equipment, and other advanced technologies BOMAG's focus at the big show is all about road building. Their booth will feature more than 40 machines.

BOMAG is poised to make a big statement at this year's CONEXPO/CON-AGG, and it's that they are one of the best and most innovative manufacturers in the road building industry. Taking a look at their lineup and what they're bringing to the show, it is clear that they want to take the crown as one of top leaders in sustainability, technology, and innovation. From March 14-18, 2023, at Central Hall exhibit #C30221, the BOMAG message is "Build Better Road," and it's clear that they mean business. Their approach to this is three-pronged: Sustainable power, equipment innovations, and more advanced technology platforms.

There's a seeming misnomer in the asphalt and construction industries that electric machines lack the power of diesel driven ones. Maybe that was once true, but it isn't anymore. The new generation of electrified construction machines are every bit as powerful and durable as their petrol powered forbearers. These new zero-emission compactors are able to operate all day, better at protecting the operators, the surrounding area of the construction zones, as well as the environment long-term.

You'll definitely need to come see these new models in-person, because they can match the conventional option's performance. These three new models from the BOMAG e-PERFORMANCE line include a tamper, single direction plate, and a tandem ride-on roller. The tamper features plug and play designs, and optional rapid chargers that allow for full operational potential in as little as 2 hours.

The new BP 18/45 direction plate is a very climate friendly, all-purpose compactor that uses the same battery as the tamper, and can be used in deep trenches, building, or tunnels to compact up to 10-in lifts of gravel/sand.

With its innovative design, the new BW 100 AD e-5 tandem roller doubles its battery capacity with two rechargeable units that provide enough power for a typical working day. Its two high efficiency mothers work independantly to control drum vibration, as well as handling. This allows for a conservation of power across the two batteries. This model is ideal for night shifts, or highly populated areas where low noise and low emissions is a big plus.

Advanced Technology Platforms

It isn't just the electric machines coming to the show with improvements. The new BOMAG BW 20 SLC-5 combination roller boasts the Intelligent Vibration Control (IVC) to alert operators in real-time when the optimum compaction level is reached. This saves passes, fuel consumption, and eliminates a lot of the uncertainty. It comes with four rear smooth tires that provide additional kneading action for optimum compaction.

Three BOMAG ride-on rollers will be at the exhibit displayed with the BOMAP Connect digital compaction system. This offers networked control and documentation of all machines involved with your compaction process, regardless of manufacturer, over an entire job site. This allows the site to be optimized, saving up to 30% on roller passes, cutting costs and lowering CO2 emissions. Bomap Connect ReleaseBOMAP connect

In addition to BOMAP Connect, the highway-class BW 174 AP-5 AM and BW 206 AD-5 AM tandem rollers in the BOMAG booth feature ASPHALT MANAGER which vectors drum vibration from true vertical to horizontal, helping the novice operator to achieve the same results as a seasoned veteran, and requires only the asphalt lift thickness be entered.

Attendees who visit the booth will also get to preview the new flexible ASPHALT PRO cloud based site planning and management technology, which allows users to intelligently plan, optimize, and document the entire paving process in real time. It calculates mix requirements, communicates with your plant, and completes route planning.

Equipment Innovation

There will be a special preview of BOMAG's vision for autonomous compaction ROBOMAG 2, a concept roller on display based on the BW177 D. Combining GPS, Lidar and state-of-the-art position sensors to offer safe, fully autonomous operation, it offers remote control operation for loading/unloading as well as to complete manually entered movement patterns.

Beyond the new e-PERFORMANCE models on display, BOMAG’s range of light equipment compaction solutions exhibited include vibratory tampers, single direction and reversible plates, and light tandem rollers.  The exhibit includes 20 tandem, pneumatic and single drum ride-on rollers. The heavy tandem BW 161 ADO-5 features the exclusive TanGO Tangential Oscillation compaction technology, for risk-free compaction of joints, on bridges or around buildings.BOMAG 2200-65 Cold PlanerBOMAG 2200-65 Cold Planer

There are also recyclers and stabilizers that efficiently handle a broad range of applications from soil stabilization at construction sites, landfills and dam projects to recycling asphalt parking lots, roadways and highways. The display includes a range of BOMAG RS machines from the nimble 39,000-lb (17,690-kg) BOMAG RS 360 with its 78.9-in (2.000-mm) working width to the productive 643.7-hp (480-kW) RS 650 model recycling/stabilizing a 94.5-in (2.400-mm) width in a single pass. The RS 650 features BOMAG’s unique FLEXMIX technology that delivers optimum mixing results in both forward and reverse travel directions to improve operating flexibility.

No matter what your needs are for road building and asphalt application, BOMAG is going to have a massive showing, and you wont want to miss getting to see it live and in-person.
