AEMP Elects New 2017-2018 Board of Directors

New chairman of the board plans to continue AEMP's strategic plan focusing on safety, technology and a larger emphasis on workforce development

The Association of Equipment Management Professionals (AEMP), the premier organization for asset management professionals of off-road fleets, has elected the 2017-18 Executive Committee and Board of Directors. Each year, AEMP members select top peers from various fleet intensive organizations to lead the Board. The Board will be sworn in on Monday, March 6 at AEMP’s 35th Management Conference and Annual Meeting in Las Vegas.

Don Gengelbach, CEM the current chair-elect, will take over the reins of leadership as the Chairman of the Board. Gengelbach’s main goals are not surprising, and are in keeping with a sound approach to stewardship that is a hallmark of AEMP’s leadership team. “We will continue the path laid out by AEMP’s strategic plan that focuses on safety, technology and workforce development, with a little bit more emphasis on developing the workforce. 

Gengelbach has been a member of AEMP since 2005. He earned the Certified Equipment Manager (CEM) designation in 2011, and has served on numerous workgroups and committees since that time, including the Technology Committee, where he was one of the key members of the workgroup that helped develop version 2 of the AEMP Telematics Standard, now called ISO15143-3, AEMP University Committee, where he directed the change to an new Learning Management System,  as well as numerous board positions, including Director of Mining, Vice Chair, and Chair-Elect.

In addition to a new Chairman, AEMP elected six Executive Committee Members to the Board. Greg Peet, CEM of the Helm Group was elected Chairman-Elect and will begin his term as Chairman of the Board in March 2018. 

Three Vice Chairmen were also chosen; Barth Burgett, VP of Equipment at Kokosing, Mason Ford, CEM, Director of Equipment Services at Skanska USA Civil, and David Bolderoff, CEM, Fleet Manager for the Sanitation Districts of LA County, CA.

The executive committee will be rounded out by Ken Burke, CEM, Country Manager at Sarens Canada, elected Treasurer, and John Meese, CEM will continue on the executive committee as immediate past chairman.

AEMP members also elected Directors of Designated Industries, who serve as the eyes and ears of specific sectors of heavy equipment management.  Paul Kitko, VP at Glenn O Hawbaker will serve as Construction Director, Randy Campbell, CEM, Fleet Manager of Arapahoe County, CO as Governmental Director, Dan Ammon, CEM, Shop Manager at AECOM as Mining Director, Lisa Evans, National Account Manager at the Donaldson Corporation as Director of Associates, and Wayne Harriman, Case Construction Equipment as Director of Strategic Partners.

Additionally, Gengelbach announced one-year appointments to the board to assist the organization in specific issue areas. Kirby Yakemchuk, CEM, of Ledcor Group, Tim Morgan, Equipment Foreman at Branch Highways, and Joe Baker of J.J. Kane Appraisal Services.
