Caterpillar Brings Promise of Hundreds of Jobs to Triad

Caterpillar formally broke ground in North Caroline on a factory that will create 392 jobs during the next five years.

Caterpillar Inc., the heavy-duty construction equipment manufacturer known for the radiant yellow color of its products, formally broke ground Friday on a factory that will create 392 jobs during the next five years. The company will invest $426 million in the facility while receiving pledges of up to $52 million in local and state of North Carolina economic incentives.

Between 200 and 250 dignitaries, including Sen. Richard Burr, gathered at the graded factory site at the intersection of Temple School and Union Cross roads. The site is in southeastern Forsyth County about 5 miles from the High Point city limit.
