LOS ANGELES, CA - D.J. Scheffler, Inc., a specialty foundation drilling firm based in Pomona, recently hosted "Champion's Night" and raised nearly $10,000 for Optimist Youth Homes & Family Services, a non-profit child welfare organization. The benefit event, featuring charity basketball games and a silent auction, was held to raise much needed funding to replace the worn floor in the organization's gymnasium in Los Angeles. D.J. Scheffler and other community-based businesses and individuals contributed to this worthy cause.
A new gym floor will help Optimist Youth Homes & Family Services continue to provide a safe, clean environment for recreational activities. The organization has a rich sporting heritage and its successful recreation programs help hundreds of local teens choose a better life and a brighter future. Through team sports, youth are taught discipline and teamwork in a rewarding atmosphere.
Additional funds are urgently needed to replace the gym floor. Optimist Youth Homes & Family Services is a nationally accredited non-profit 501(c)3 corporation that provides housing, education, support and recreation activities to hundreds of at-risk, abused and neglected youth in Southern California.
