China Files Trade Complaint Over US Steel, Aluminum Tariffs

World Trade Organization could rule on the complaint if US and China can't reach an agreement after 60 days

Associated Press

China has filed a complaint with the World Trade Organization challenging President Donald Trump's recent tariffs on imported steel and aluminum. China has requested 60 days of consultations with the U.S. on the dispute. If that fails, China will likely request a ruling from a panel of trade experts.

China claims the US tariffs violate international trade rules.

The Chinese government has issued a list of U.S. goods which might be targeted for retaliation if the Presidents fails to negotiate a settlement over the dispute.
