Why You Should Be Making Good Money on Asphalt Crack Routing and Sealing

Proper crack preparation through routing can double the service life of your crack sealing efforts

When sealant is applied to a crack that is not routed, the material is exposed to traffic and wear during the warm summer months. As changes in temperature and moisture cause sealant to surface, and as traffic continues to apply pressure and wear the sealant away, the protection deteriorates over time. A routed crack however, creates uniform edges to create a strong bond, which allows sealant material to adhere better with the asphalt pavement. Crack routing also allows the sealant level to remain below the surface of the pavement which protects the sealant from traffic and snowplow contact.
