Genie's New XC Booms All Have 660-lb. Unrestricted Capacity

To adapt to today’s widespread need to enable people to work at height safely with increasingly heavy loads using a single machine, Genie Xtra Capacity (XC) boom lifts are designed to work in more applications that require higher capacities.

To satisfy demand to work safely at height with increasingly heavy loads, all Genie Xtra Capacity (XC) boom lifts use a dual-envelope design to provide unrestricted range of motion with a platform capacity of 660 lbs. and a restricted operating envelope capacity of 1,000 lbs. An updated boom structure and robust jib improve the XC booms' range of motion and envelope control at the 1,000-lb. maximum capacity.

The Genie SX-135XC boom is the first model in the Xtra Capacity family, offering 90 ft. of outreach and ability to work 19 ft. 8 in. below grade (with 660-lb. unrestricted lift capacity), all from a 12-ft. 11-in. x 13-ft. 6-in. footprint.

“With 10 ft more outreach and 32% more capacity than a typical self-propelled boom of this size,” says Adam Hailey, Genie director of product management, “the Genie SX-135XC boom lift is ideal for rental customers working on challenging jobsite applications with its unique up-and-over style capability to navigate obstacles at height."

The XC nomenclature also lets rental customers know that this new boom complies with the overload restriction guidelines in the proposed ANSI A92 and CSA B354 industry standards in North America, as well as the current European EN280 and Australian AS 1418.10 standards.

A load-sense cell continuously checks the weight in the platform and adjusts the machine's working envelope to match the load chart. A tilt sensor gives users access to different ranges of motion based on the machine’s rated slope limit -- at extreme angles on certain machines -- maximizing access in hard-to-reach work areas. An updated CAN-based control system on most of the new Genie XC models brings the familiar SmartLink control system features to these new booms. Operators will find control layouts on these new Genie XC machines consistent and intuitive, simplifying operation.

“Service technicians will appreciate the onboard diagnostics available on the new LCD display at the ground controls,” says Hailey, “Allowing machine setup, calibration and troubleshooting right on the machine — no need for a laptop or any additional accessories.”

The XC booms share commonality in design, parts and accessories, as well as serviceability features including easy access to crucial service points, with all Genie products.
