Caterpillar Inc. has introduced the Cat D1500 diesel generator set, delivering 1.5 MW of standby power from a compact 32.1-liter Cat C32B engine. The new model is up to 13% smaller and 32% lighter than its predecessor, reducing space requirements as well as shipping and installation costs.
Now available through Cat dealers in North America, the D1500 is designed for a range of 60 Hz standby applications. It meets ISO 8528-5 standards for steady state and transient response and complies with NFPA 110 Level 1 Type 10 requirements for rapid power restoration. The unit is UL 2200 certified for the U.S. and Canada and meets EPA Tier 2 standards for emergency stationary use.
The generator includes a standard controller that starts automatically during outages. Remote monitoring is available through a web platform or mobile app, while optional Cat Energy Control System (ECS) controllers provide advanced load management and integration with power systems.
