Ergodyne has released a new line of Type 2 safety helmets designed to blend familiar style with expanded protection.
Unlike Type 1 hard hats, which are tested only for top impact, Type 2 helmets are tested for side, front and rear impacts. According to the Center for Construction Research and Training, just 15% of jobsite head impacts occur at the crown of the head, highlighting the need for more coverage.
Despite the safety benefits, many workers have resisted switching, often preferring the look and feel of traditional hard hats. Ergodyne’s new model addresses that concern with a full brim silhouette, providing both the appearance of a hard hat and added protection against sun, rain and falling debris.
The helmets also feature ventilated foam to reduce heat buildup, a six-point suspension with a 36-point ratchet system for secure fit, and built-in accessory mounts for lights, visors and hearing protection.
