GAINESVILLE, FL - NCCER and NACE International, two leading providers of industry education, training, and certification, have joined forces to deliver a comprehensive industrial coating lining and lining application specialist training and certification program.
The program was developed to support the requirements for qualification and certification of an industrial coating and lining application specialist as specified in the joint NACE/SSPC standard (NACE No. 13 and SSPC-ACS-1). The qualification and certification process is a stepwise achievement process that includes all aspects of surface preparation and coating application for steel and concrete surfaces of complex industrial structures.
There are three training and certification levels to the program plus a level covering eight specialty topics. The first level of training, Industrial Coating and Lining Application Specialist Level One, has released this month, November 2009. The supporting assessment for Level One will release the first quarter of 2010. All trainees who successfully complete the Level One training program will receive a certificate of recognition jointly endorsed by NCCER and NACE International. All candidates who pass both the written and performance exams for the assessment will receive a joint 'certified plus' credential from NCCER. The second level of training is slated for release summer 2010 and the supporting assessment will release shortly afterwards in the fall.
"NACE training programs have grown substantially in recent years, and we are consistently asked for an applicator training program that can be delivered outside the traditional classroom setting," said Tony Keane, NACE executive director. "NACE sought a training partner with credentials in craft training to meet the special hands-on requirements of this workforce, and it was apparent that NCCER is the organization with the most experience and success."
Level One of the NCCER/NACE Industrial Coating and Lining Application Specialist Training and Certification Program includes material from NCCER's Core Curriculum for basic construction-related training. Curriculum is developed by subject matter experts representing contractors and educators nationwide to ensure training that meets or exceeds industry standards.
