Toppled Drill Rig Kills One Operator, Traps Another

Toronto subway station project was overseen by Madrid's Obrascón Huarte Lain

A drilling rig tipped over at a York University construction site in Toronto Tuesday afternoon, crushing to death one operator in a nearby excavator and trapping the operator of a second machine for nearly two hours. The trapped man's injuries, which included a broken femur, were described as serious but not life-threatening.

The subway station project has been overseen by Obrascón Huarte Lain, a Madrid-based multinational construction firm.
