A 45-year-old construction worker died after a wall he was cutting a hole in collapsed, pinning him underneath. The worker was cutting a hole to install a double door at the Ford assembly plant in South Chicago. A Ford worker to came to the construction worker's aid was also injured.
In 2014, a Ford employee notified the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) in 2014 listing 13 complaints about the wall and its condition. The employee says Ford made minor repairs to everything on the list of complaints after he contacted OSHA. OSHA apparently investigated the complaints but found no evidence to support the allegations and no citations were issued.
OSHA is currently investigating the subcontractor.
